I was inspired to write Charleigh’s Song shortly after I found out that my daughter, Megan, was pregnant and knew that she and her husband, Mark, would be bringing a little girl into the world.

There were many initial ideas that came to mind, but the one that struck me with the most emotion was telling a story using different instruments to represent all the relationships and love that would surround her.

In the song, I chose the harp and orchestra bells to represent Charleigh. To me, the harp exudes angelic, delicate sounds depicting a tiny, fragile baby entering the world.

The piano represents the happy interaction and emotional connection of Charleigh with all the loving people that will surround her as she develops relationships with them.

The acoustic guitar presents all the people that will form a strong foundation of support for her through their love as Charleigh begins the first chapter of her life’s journey.

And, finally, the strings represent the warm emotional connections that tie all the relationships together.

So, close your eyes as you listen to Charleigh’s Song and imagine all those relationships depicted in this special song written from my heart for my beautiful granddaughter.
